Abstract

This Decree-Law, composed of 15 articles and 2 Annexes, introduces in the national legal order the Directive 2003/99/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the monitoring of zoonoses and zoonotic agents. The aim is to grant proper control measures for zoonoses, zoonotic agents and any related antimicrobial resistances, as well as an adequate epidemiological investigation of food-borne outbreaks. Annex 1 provides a list of zoonoses and zoonotic agents to be controlled; Annex II indicates the requirements for controlling antimicrobial resistance.
