Abstract This Decree-Law creates the Competence Centre for the Family and Sustainable Agriculture of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CCAFS). The CCAFS is a collective person governed by public law with an international vocation, being able to associate itself with other public or private, national or foreign entities, with a regional or international vocation that share its objectives. The main objective of the CCAFS is to train involved actors, in particular trainers and farmers, and to stimulate a reference network for the exchange of knowledge and cooperation on sustainable agriculture and agroecology in the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries. The CCAFS has as a secondary objective to contribute to the consolidation of sustainable agriculture in São Tomé and Príncipe and its international recognition as an example of piloting good agricultural practices. In order to achieve the aforementioned objectives, CCAFS acts mainly in the following areas: i. Promotion of sustainable use of natural resources and agro-ecological production; ii.
