Abstract

This Decree-Law, structured in six Chapters and two Annexes, regulates the cultivation of genetically modified plant varieties, with the aim of assuring their coexistence with other conventional crops and with biological farming methods. In particular, the Decree-Law defines farming requirements, farmers’ duties and permitted areas for growing genetically modified plants. Moreover, the Decree-Law sets the competent bodies, the control and inspection procedures as well as the applicable sanctions and penalties. Annex I details the applicable technical norms; Annex II provides the model for notification procedures.
