In particular, it provides a definition of the continental shelf, as well as its borders and limits. Moreover, it defines the activities that can be carried out within the continental shelf, such as research, exploration and extraction of mineral resources. The Decree-Law rules on concession regime and procedures, as well as security measures to be observed in the area and the bodies in charge for management and monitoring of the continental shelf.
