Abstract This Decree-Law establishes the legal regime for radiological protection, as well as the attributions of the competent authority and inspection authority for radiological protection, transposing Council Directive 2013/59/Euratom, of 5 December 2013, which sets basic safety standards for protection against dangers resulting from exposure to ionizing radiation. It transfers the mission, attributions and powers of the Regulatory Commission for the Safety of Nuclear Installations (COMRSIN) to the competent authority, transposing into the internal legal order the rules relating to the competent authority of Council Directive 2009/71/Euratom of 25 June 2009, as amended by Council Directives 2014/87/Euratom of 8 July 2014, and Council Directive 2011/70/Euratom, of 19 July, proceeding to the dissolution of COMRSIN. The competent authority takes over the attributions and competences of the national authorities that have attributions and competences, within the scope of radiological protection.
