Abstract This Decree, based on the provisions of the Serbian Law on energy efficiency and rational use of energy, establishes the programme of financing activities and improvement measures aimed for energy efficiency in 2022, which is part of this publication. Activities and measures to improve energy efficiency, which will be financed in 2022, as well as the amount of funds for carrying out those activities and measures are also determined in this programme. Improving energy efficiency, both in the production sectors and in sectors of energy consumption is recognized as one of the key elements of the energy policy of the Republic of Serbia, given that it contributes to security energy supply, reducing energy consumption in private and commercial sector, increasing the competitiveness of the industry and increasing the standards of citizens, that is, it contributes to the reduction of import dependence and the reduction of negative effects of the energy sector on the environment, especially the gas emissions they create the greenhouse effect. Considering the tendency towards energy decarbonisation efficiency in the coming period will have an even more significant role that it will be reflected by a set of strategic documents whose preparation is underway. The main goal of the Programme is financial support for measures and mechanisms for improvement of energy efficiency. The Programme should achieve the following specific goals: 1) achieving energy savings and its rational use through application of proven modern technologies and products, the use of which is economical justified; 2) use of renewable energy sources for own needs; 3) employment of business entities; 4) environmental protection through reduced emissions of gases that create the effect greenhouses (GHG gases); 5) increasing public awareness of the importance of energy efficiency.
