The Decree sets out requirements for allocation (land titles can be granted only to Suriname citizens and legal entities. Suriname citizensresiding abroad need legal representation and land granted to foreigner not present anymore in Suriname returs to the public domain. The Decree sets out the procedure for application for (allocation of) land of the public domain. Allocation shall be done by the Minister responsible for land affairs. Land can be allocated as property or given in lease. Obligations of the tenant are defined. Some provisions concern the maintenance of waterworks.
