Abstract Article 1 defines the scope of environment incentives in forestry: this financially support can be granted to compensate extra expenses or economic loss incurred in the management and conservation of biodiversity, maintenance of ecosystems, and other nature conservation measures. The incentives shall be granted in priority for measures as described in section 10 of the Forestry Act of 1996. Section 3 sets out criteria for eligibility for financial support, whereas sections 4 and 5 define and calculate the amount of support on the basis of logging value of the standing wood. The owner of the forestry land and the Forestry Agency shall enter into an agreement in which individual duties of the owner and other requirements are specified (sect. 7). Duties of the Forestry Agency in relation with granting of financial support are outlined in section 12.
