Abstract

The areas and countries from which the importation of pigs is forbidden are listed in Annex I. These areas are in countries which are members of the EEA Agreement where classic or African swine fever has been diagnosed and for which EU safety provisions and prohibition to export living pigs or boar seed are in force. From 5 February 1998 it is forbidden to import living pigs or boar seed from the areas listed in the Annex. The prohibition applies to parts of Italy, Spain and Germany and the whole of the Netherlands.
