Abstract

The present Decree regulates the Swedish Gene Technology Advisory Board. The Board's task is to promote an ethically defensible and safe use of genetic engineering through advisory activities, in order to protect human and animal health, as well as the environment. The Board shall pay special attention to the importance of maintaining a good research policy climate. The Board shall also disseminate knowledge on genetic engineering. The Decree contains rules on the Board's functioning, specific tasks, accountability, etc. The Board shall, no later than 22 February each year, submit to the Government a general report on developments concerning genetic engineering covering the previous calendar year.
