Abstract

The present Decree contains rules on the contained use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Anyone who conducts or intends to conduct activities with contained use of GMOs shall conduct a risk assessment in accordance with Chapter 13, Article 8, of the Environmental Code. An assessment of the need of protective measures shall also be conducted. Further, activities with contained use of GMOs may only be conducted if the notification and authorization requirements contained in the present Decree are met. The Decree also contains special provisions regarding micro-organisms, contingency plans, accidents, transboundary movement of GMOs, etc.
