Keyword Pollution control Air quality/air pollution Ozone layer Emissions Climate change Data collection/reporting Geographical area Africa, South Atlantic, Southern Africa Abstract This Notice of the Minister of Environmental Affairs, made under section 29(1) read with section 29(4) of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act, 2004 declares the greenhouse gases indicated in the Schedule to this Notice as priority air pollutants, and require persons falling within the category specified in the Schedule to prepare and submit to the Minister pollution prevention plans for approval. "Pollution prevention plan" means a plan contemplated in section 29(3) of the Act, prepared specifically for the mitigation of greenhouse gases. Persons who are under the obligation imposed by this Notice are persons conducting a production process set out in Annexure A to this Notice which involves emission of greenhouse gases in excess of 0.1 Megatonnes (Mt) annually, reported as carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2), and/or if they are directed to do so by the Minister.
