The Decision defines: equids; equine milk production company; producer, as the person responsible for ensuring compliance with the requirements of food legislation; milk of equine animals for human consumption and related dairy products. The Decision specifies: requirements for primary production of equine milk, including registration of companies, compliance with animal health and animal welfare legislation, respect of hygiene and sanitary procedures; milk processing requirements, including pasteurisation; compliance with related European Legislation; packaging and labelling of equine milk for human consumption and its dairy products.
