This Decision approves the master plan on exploration, exploitation, processing and use of lead and zinc ores through 2020 with orientations toward 2030, with the following principal contents: 1. Development viewpoints - To explore, exploit, process and use lead and zinc ores in line with Vietnam's industrial development strategy, mineral strategy and local socio-economic development master plans, ensuring the requirements of sustainable development, strengthening of national security and defense, and the harmony between national interests and interests of localities, enterprises and residents of areas where lead and zinc ores are exploited and processed. - To explore, exploit, process and use lead and zinc ores to ensure socio-economic environmental efficiency, environmental protection, natural landscape and other natural resources. - Lead and zinc ore exploitation and processing projects must apply environment-friendly advanced technologies, use natural resources in an integrated and economical manner, and shall be closely combined with lead and zinc metallurgical establishments and projects. - To restrict and terminate small lead and zinc ore exploitation, sorting and intensive processing projects that use outdated technologies, resulting in losses of natural resources, consuming more energies and polluting the environment, to form large enterprises that apply modem technologies, meeting environmental requirements, and own many mines for stable and long-term intensive processing of lead and zinc ores.
