It shall apply to the administration of estates of all persons dying domiciled, or leaving property, in Malawi on or after the date upon which the Act comes into operation; but any property belonging to the estate of such persons which, at the coming into operation of this Act, remains partly or wholly undistributed, shall be distributed in accordance with the provisions of this Act. Except as provided for in this Act, no person shall be entitled under any other written law or under customary law to take by inheritance any of the property to which a deceased person was entitled at the date of his or her death. The Act provides with respect to the making of wills, inheritance in case of intestacy, powers of court, protection and administration of (small) estates, execution of wills and related matters.
