Abstract

This Act prohibits in the waters of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the fishing method known as, cyanide fishing, i.e. fishing making use of the spraying of cyanide compounds for the stunning of fish. The rationale behind the ban of such fishing is the protection of the marine life and the coral reef habitat of the Northern Marianas. The Division of Fish and Wildlife shall promulgate rules and regulations to enforce the intent of this Act. Penalties are prescribed.
