Abstract This Act determines the methods of protection of cultural heritage and the competencies in its protection in order to enable the integrated preservation of heritage. Heritage is goods inherited from the past, which Slovenes, members of the Italian and Hungarian national communities and the Roma community, and other citizens of the Republic of Slovenia define as a reflection and expression of their values, identities, ethnicity, religious and other beliefs, knowledge and traditions. Heritage includes aspects of the environment that result from the interaction between people and space over time. Heritage is divided into tangible and intangible heritage. Tangible heritage consists of movable and immovable heritage. Integrated heritage conservation shall be implemented in development planning and measures of the state, provinces and municipalities by including heritage in sustainable development, while respecting its special nature and social significance. The protection of heritage is in the public interest. The public benefit of heritage protection is determined in accordance with the cultural, educational, developmental, symbolic and identification significance of heritage for the state, provinces and municipalities. Chapter XIII prescribes related criminal provisions. Full text Slovenian Website www.pisrs.si References - Legislation Repeals Cultural Heritage Protection Act.
