Abstract In accordance with Section I of this Directive, Member States shall carry out annually statistical surveys of the sheep and the goat population on their territory. For the purposes of this Directive, “sheep” means domestic animals of the species Ovis and “goat” means domestic animals of the species Capra. The surveys shall cover all sheep and goats on holdings in compliance with article 2. The results shall be notified to the Commission (art. 5). Further surveys shall be carried out by Member States as regards slaughtering (Section II) and production forecasts (Section III).
