Member States shall ensure that the presence and suspected presence of swine fever are compulsorily and immediately notified to the competent authority. Where a holding contains one or more pigs suspected of being infected with swine fever, Member States shall ensure that the official veterinarian immediately sets in motion official means of investigation to confirm or rule out the presence of the said disease.
