This Act assigns the power to the Governor-General to declare a close planting season for cotton and prohibits the sowing of cotton seeds or the planting of cotton during such period. The Act also defines powers of inspectors and prescribes penalties. The Governor-General may, by Proclamation, published in the Gazette, declare any period of each year to be a close planting season. The Proclamation may be made for the whole country or for specified areas may prescribe different close planting seasons for different areas.
