Abstract

These Regulations enforce for Northern Ireland Regulation (EC) No 1005/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council, which controls the production, placing on the market and use of “controlled substances”, which are substances that deplete the ozone layer. They: provide that the Department of the Environment is the competent authority for the purposes of the EU Regulation; declare breach of selected provisions of the EU Regulation to be an offence; and provide with respect to enforcement notices and other matters regarding enforcement.
