Abstract

These Regulations, made under section 38 of the Control of Tobacco Auction Floors Act, provide rules relative to the grading of tobacco and grant power to the Minister to appoint grading inspectors for the purpose of enforcing and supervising these Regulations. No person shall carry on the business of grading tobacco for profit or gain unless he or she is licensed by the Minister as a grader. This rule shall not, however, apply to a grower of tobacco who grades his or her own crop. A licence shall be valid for not more than one year ending at any rate at 31 December of the year of issue. The Regulations set out the method of grading that shall be used by licensed graders and requires them to send grading returns to owners of tobacco in the prescribed form. Inspectors may inspect premises used by licensed graders.
