Subject Sea Keyword Maritime zone Navigation Enforcement/compliance Geographical area Asia and the Pacific, Australia and New Zealand, Indian Ocean, Oceania, South Pacific Abstract The Governor-General may, by Proclamation, declare that waters (a) that are wholly within a distance of 5 nautical miles from, or from the limits, of an installation; or (b) that are wholly within a distance of 2 nautical miles from the limits of defence on which there is not an installation, are naval waters for the purposes of this Act (sect. 3B). The Governor-General may make regulations with respect to matters listed in section 4 for the purpose of control of naval waters. The Governor-General may, by instrument in writing, appoint a person to be superintendent of such naval waters as are specified in the instrument (sect. 3C).
