Straying dogs may be impounded by the Chief Veterinary Officer. Dogs that are not claimed by the owner may be destroyed. The Minister may, by Notice in the Gazette, declare any control area or island to be a special control area and the Chief Veterinary Officer may order the laying of poisonous baits for straying dogs in that area.
