Abstract Tuvalu's independence was granted to it by the United Kingdom by virtue of the Tuvalu Independence Order 1978 (UK). Tuvalu became an independent constitutional monarchy on 1 October 1978. This Constitution was adopted in 1986. An Act of Parliament may alter the Constitution of Tuvalu (Sec.7.1). The alteration of the Constitution to give effect to U.K. constitutional changes is also foreseen (Sec. 8). Full text English Website www.ilo.org
