Abstract

This Notice, made by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture under section 8 of the Conservation of Agricultural Resources Act, amends the Notice on Establishment of a Soil Conservation Scheme by expanding that Scheme to: (a) incorporate the drilling of boreholes for stock watering purposes; (b) include assistance in respect of drilling of boreholes by Government drills and private drilling contractors, borehole casing, pump tests as well as borehole pumping equipment. The objects of the Soil Conservation Scheme shall be to promote the construction of certain soil conservation works with a view to conserve the production potential of agricultural land and to combat soil erosion. Subsidies may be paid to participants in the Scheme in respect to soil conservation works.
