Abstract

This Conservation Measure of the South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation, taking into accoun the FAO International Plan of Action for Reducing the Incidental Catch of Seabirds in Longline Fisheries, require Contracting Parties to collect and provide all available information to the Secretariat on interactions with seabirds and to seek to achieve reductions in levels of seabird by-catch across all fishing areas, seasons, and fisheries through the use of effective mitigation measures. the conservation Measure imposes also requirements with respect to gear on longline and trawl vessels.
