The CMM aims to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in the SPRFMO area by requiring prior notification, designated ports, port inspections, and procedures in the event of infringements by foreign fishing vessels. The CMM also recognises the special requirements of developing Members and CNCPs, the rights and duties of Members and CNCPs under international law, and the need for cooperation and information exchange among relevant authorities and organisations1.
