It stipulates that each member and CNCP must exert all reasonable efforts to combat, minimize, and eliminate abandoned, lost, or otherwise discarded fishing gear. The document outlines the responsibilities of vessels, emphasizing that they must not intentionally abandon or discard fishing gear, and should make reasonable attempts to recover any lost gear. Furthermore, the CMM prohibits vessels from releasing any form of plastics into the sea, which encompasses items such as synthetic ropes, synthetic fishing nets, plastic garbage bags, and incinerator residues from plastic products.
