Country/Territory Document type Regulation Date 2018 Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Fisheries Keyword Marine fisheries Fishery management and conservation Transshipment International organization International relations/cooperation High seas Inspection Landing Equipment Monitoring Foreign fishing Abstract This Conservation and Management Measure of the Meeting of the Parties to the Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement requires each Contracting Party, cooperating non-Contracting Party (CNCP) and participating fishing entity (PFE) to ensure that its vessels maintain either an electronic fishing logbook or a bound fishing logbook containing the information relevant for their compliance with the data collection and submission requirements of CMM 2018/02, that vessels flying its flag submit the fishing logbook data within 30 days of the completion of a fishing trip in the Agreement Area to its competent authority, and that data are submitted in accordance with CMM 2018/02 and maintained in accordance with CMM 2016/03. In addition, Contracting Parties, CNCPs and PFEs shall ensure that ALC units are installed on vessels flying their flag and remain operational at all times while in the Agreement Area. The CMM sets out other obligations of Contracting Parties, CNCPs and PFEs in respect to monitoring of vessels flying its flag, and also concerns obligations respecting transshipments at sea and in port and the landing of transshipment fish in port.
