Abstract This Conservation and Management Measures provides for the establishment of SIOFA VMS to monitor the movements and activity of fishing vessels operating in the Agreement Area in an automatic, continuous and cost-effective manner to ensure compliance with SIOFA CMMs. The SIOFA VMS shall apply to all fishing vessels flying the flag of a Contracting Party, cooperating non-Contracting Party or participating fishing entity (CCP) that are entered onto the SIOFA Record of Authorised Vessels and operating in the Agreement Area. This CMM lays down the nature and specifications of the SIOFA VMS; procedure for manual reporting; measures to prevent tampering with automatic location communicator; use and release of VMS position reports; and closed areas and interim protected areas.
