Abstract

This Regulation, comprising 27 articles, regulates the licensing system and the management of Fish Culture Farm (sited in ponds, tanks, or vertical farming). The licensee shall comply with the Pollution Control Guidelines for Industrial Development and Good Aquaculture Practices for Fish Farming or the Manual of Brunei Darussalam on Good Aquaculture Practices For Shrimp Farms in carrying out the operation of the fish culture farm (art.7). Furthermore, the licensee shall (i) culture fish species and acquire fish to be cultured only from approved sources; (ii) use only authorized fish feed or from authorized suppliers and the fish feed shall not be sourced from swine; (iii) use only permitted chemical products and veterinary drugs; (iv) inform the Department of Fisheries in case of presence of fish diseases listed by the World Animal Health Organization (OIE) and/or unusually high fish mortality; (v) carry out the process of disposing of dead or infected fish by the prescribed procedures; (vi) dispose of the waste material at the designated waste disposal site. It is also provided that (i) fish culture farms with quarantine facilities, shall take further steps to prevent cross-contamination between the quarantine facility and the fish farm; (ii) pets shall not be allowed into the fish farm site. The second part deals with the conditions in which the fish farm must be maintained, in particular (i) the need for prior written approval to undertake any construction, renovation, or addition of new structures at the allocated site; (ii) cleanness of the site and its surroundings. General conditions regard (i) production data of fish culture farm; (ii) record of the daily activities; (iii) inspections of the fish farm; (iv) license revocation.
