Abstract

All ranching operations in Guyana are subject to the Laws of Guyana, in particular the Fisheries (Aquatic Wildlife Control) Regulations. All ranching operations are subject to provisions of the C.I.T.E.S. and all relevant Appendices. All ranching operations will be required to initiate an ancillary captive breeding operation in accordance with Regulations of the Ministry. Investors shall submit a proposal of operation which shall be reviewed by an international committee including representatives from the CITES secretariat and IUCN. Other requirements concern capacity to procure protein, stocking of hatchlings or eggs, incubation, rearing facilties, tagging of skins before export, and communication of data by operators.
