This Law enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Law establishes the State Environmental System (SIEMA), and the State Environment Fund (FEMA), reformulates the State Environmental Policy, defines competencies and responsibilities of State bodies and entities and provides for administrative efficiency measures focusing on the model results-based management. The State Environmental Policy comprises the set of administrative and technical guidelines designed to guide government action in the field of rational use, conservation and preservation of the environment, in line with the National Environmental Policy. The State Environmental Fund (FEMA), linked to SEMA, is created, with the purpose of gathering resources for the development of projects and policies aimed at conserving biodiversity, the rational and sustainable use of environmental resources, including maintenance, improvement or recovery of environmental quality, aiming to increase the population’s quality of life.
