In each country, the responsible body for living aquatic resources shall (i) prepare the related plans; (ii) specify fishing areas where fishing is prohibited for limited periods or throughout the year; (iii) prepare programs for the development and modernization of fishing techniques and its various methods and provide training, extension, support and other facilities, especially for the artisanal fishing sector; and (iv) determine the appropriate areas for activities related to aquaculture and provide supervision together with the necessary technical and material assistance.
