Abstract

This Regulation applies to aid granted to undertakings in the fisheries sector, which means undertakings active in the production, processing and marketing of fisheries products. Aid may be granted by national authorities as long as they comply with the provisions laid down at the European Union level (articles 87 and 88 of the Treaty) on de minimis aid, in the framework of competition law. Aid measures shall be deemed not to meet all the criteria of article 87(1) of the European Union Treaty and shall be exempt from the notification requirement of article 88(3) of the Treaty, if they fulfill the conditions laid down in articles 3-5 of this Regulation.
