Abstract

This Regulation lays down provisions aimed at protecting certain stocks in the Celtic Sea. These provisions apply to fishing vessels operating with bottom trawls or seines in the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) divisions VIIf, VIIg and the part of VIIj that lies north of latitude 50° N and east of 11° W (Celtic Sea), where their mesh size and engine power exceed the limits specified in article 1. The Regulation sets out technical measures applicable to those vessels and provides for onboard observer programmes.
