Entry into force notes

This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union and shall apply from 1 January 2023.

Abstract

This Regulation lays down uniform practical arrangements for the performance of official controls on the presence of contaminants in food, regarding the annual uniform minimum frequency of these official controls, and the content of the multi-annual national control plan and its preparation. The Member States are required to include a control plan for food placed on the Union market and a control plan for food of animal origin entering the Union, in their multi-annual national control plans. Furthermore, the Member States shall submit the control plans each year to be evaluated by the Commission and shall transmit all data gathered under the control plans to the European Food Safety Authority.
