Abstract

This Decision lays down technical guidelines for inspections of waste facilities in accordance with article 17 of Directive 2006/21/EC, which concerns the management of waste from extractive industries. In particular, these guidelines set out elements to be taken into consideration for inspections of waste facilities. Such inspections are aimed at ensuring that any waste facility has obtained the required permit and complies with the relevant permit conditions. The inspections relate to the different life-phases of the waste facilities. The guidelines address the general framework for carrying out inspections (see Part C), the focus of the inspections for each of the different life-phases of the waste facilities (see Part D) and the specific elements relevant to inspection of Category A facilities (see Part E).
