Abstract

Due to the risk of pepino mosaic virus, the introduction into as well as the movement within the Community of plants of tomato intended for planting and contaminated by such virus shall be prohibited (art. 1). As regards plants of tomato intended for planting and coming from third countries shall meet the conditions laid down in the Annex attached. They shall be subject to inspection upon entry into the Community. Furthermore, plants of tomato intended for planting may not be moved from their place of production unless they fulfill the requirements established in the Annex. Member States are hereby required to perform official surveys at least on premises involved in the production of tomato plants and tomato fruit, for the presence of pepino mosaic virus. The results of the surveys shall be notified to the Commission and to the other Member States.
