Abstract

The present Code of practice provides for the beneficial use of specified industrial by-products on land. Moreover, the Code provides consistent requirements across the province and protects the quality of soil as well as the surface and groundwater on sites where the by-products are applied. As of September 1, 2007 a discharger must complete and submit a notification form at least 30 days prior to a proposed soil amendment application greater than 5m3. The text consists of 12 sections divided into 3 Parts as follows: Definitions (1); Soil amendment storage (2); Application of soil amendments to land (3). One Schedule is enclosed.
