The 20 sections of this Act are divided into 3 Parts: Manufacturers of copra and crude coconut oil producers (I); Duty on coconut products and the keeping of books (II); Miscellaneous (III). A person shall not manufacture coconut products unless he is a holder of a licence in respect of each factory where he so manufactures (sec.3). Section 6 provides for the registration of producers of copra or crude coconut oil. The Minister may, from time to time, by notice published in the Gazette, prescribe standards of quality, and fix maximum wholesale and retail prices for coconut products manufactured and intended to be sold for consumption in Guyana (sect. 13). The remaining provisions of this Act deal with inspection and the taking of samples (sects. 14 and 15), permits for the removal of coconut products (sect. 16), discharge of a defendant from prosecution (sect. 17), presumption that coconut products are manufactured in Guyana, regulation making powers of the minister, and penalties.
