Abstract This Act describes plans for increasing incomes for coconut farmers, alleviating poverty, and achieving social equality. The coconut farmers and industry development plan shall be guided by the objectives for poverty reduction, rehabilitation and modernization of the coconut industry, setting up community-based enterprises for integrated processing of downstream products, and conducting innovative research projects. The Plan further lays out the requirements for allocation of fund for implementation of the programs and projects such as development of hybrid coconut seed farmers, training of farmers and their families, research, marketing and promotion, crop insurance and organization and empowerment of coconut farmers. The Act lays out provision with regard to setting up the coconut farmers and industry trust fund that shall be capitalized, managed, invested, utilized and accounted for in the manner provided in this Act.
