Section 26(1) of the Act defines the term “microgeneration” for the purposes of the Act. In order to constitute microgeneration, a plant which generates heat or electricity must rely wholly or mainly on a source or technology listed in section 26(2). Additional sources or technologies may be added to the list where the Secretary of State considers that the use of that source of energy or technology would cut emissions of greenhouse gases in Great Britain.
