Abstract

This Circular outlines the policy for release of varieties of crop plants for use by the agriculture industry in Canada. Main policy principles: (1) because varieties are developed by public funds all growers must have equal access at equitable costs; (2) procedures and methods of release vary by crop kinds; (3) exclusive right to a variety is not a usual condition of release; (4) varieties not covered by this Circular will be released by procedures authorized by the Executive of the Research Branch of Agriculture Canada.
