Abstract

This Act specifies requirements for vessels in relation with international maritime conventions applying in Micronesia. Unless otherwise specified herein, the Act applies to: (a) registered vessels (including government vessels) wherever located; (b) non-registered small craft which navigate outside lagoons, or navigate within lagoons in such a way as to affect interstate or international commerce; and (c) foreign vessels at a port or within the waters of the Federated States of Micronesia. Requirements may have regard to the carriage of dangerous goods and the Act defines offences in relation with carriage of goods that may harm the environment.
