Abstract

This Act requires: all vessels of at least 12 meters which are wholly owned by Qualified Persons, if not registered under the laws of another nation, to be registered in the Federated States of Micronesia; and all vessels of at least 12 meters entering or operating within the waters of the Federated States of Micronesia to be duly registered either in accordance with the laws of the Federated States of Micronesia or another nation. The Act defines requirements for the registration of vessels. Registration may only be applied for by Qualified Persons as defined by this Act and if the vessel meets the requirements as set out in this Act. The Act also concerns marking of vessels and ownership and related rights with respect to vessels.
