Such activities require a Certificate of Environmental Clearance, the grant of which signifies the approval of the activity solely in terms of environmental impact. Activities include animal husbandry, operation of a game propagation facility, aquaculture, mariculture, farming, timber cultivation and extraction, land filling and reclamation, handling of (toxic) waste, catchment, abstraction or treatment of potable or 'process' water, water distribution, impounding of water, land drainage and irrigation, water treatment and sewage treatment.
