The objects of this Act are to identify significant natural and cultural values of Cape York Peninsula, to provide for cooperative management, protection and ecologically sustainable use of land, including pastoral land, in the Cape York Peninsula Region; and to recognise the economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations of indigenous communities in relation to land use in the Cape York Peninsula Region and the contribution of the pastoral industry in the Cape York Peninsula Region to the economy and land management in the region.
