Moreover, no person shall import or sell any canned food, or any food intended to be sold as canned food, unless it complies with the provisions of these Regulations. Regulation 5 indicated allowed contents of canned food. Where canned food is heat processed, the processing shall be at a temperature as to prevent the survival of any microorganism capable of producing toxics, as well as inactivate microorganisms capable of development under non refrigerated conditions of storage. Regulation 7 prohibits the importation and sale of canned food containing (i) insects, insect fragments, insect larvae or insect eggs, (ii) moulds, or (iii) cysts or other parasites.
